You have to watch a lot of road racing to understand what's going on. The rules (written and unwritten) are unlike any other sport. The first time I watched it I had so many questions and it didn't make sense. Took a couple of years of watching road racing to be able to appreciate what's going on. I don't think any of it is staged or "set up". Too many athletes, teams and sponsors involved to allow any sort of fix. MC is just in the zone.
