When I was 7, Mom and Dad bought me a bike. It was just a bike, you know - frame with two sets of curving tubes for the top tube, 24" wheels, fenders, coaster brake, etc. By the time I was 10, I DESPERATELY wanted one of those fancy bikes like the ones in the ad above. So, Dad bought a banana seat and an 'ape hanger' handlebar. I was a little disappointed, but I rode that thing all over town.
