It sounds like you’re describing the Quadra 21r which was very close to the Quadra 10. I also have that fork. Came stock on my ‘96 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo. Might be needing to rebuild those soon. If I can still find replacement elastomers, that is.
Might be easier/better to try and find a marzocchi z1 on eBay or somewhere.
