I prefer to get touch up paint in spray cans, but I don't spray it on to the bike. If you spray the paint into a cup (or even the cap to the spray can) it will start with very low viscosity which is good for wicking into shorelines. As the carrier evaporates the paint will become thicker and it is better for filling chips.
