'Age' is very individual. In an advanced country like the U.S. still is (for a decade or two more) the average person should still be able to operate a car safely in their 70's. I know 80 year olds that drive very, very well. I know a couple of 55 year olds that really should just live car free because they have almost no aptitude or judgement and are very nervous and unpredictable operators. So, let's not confuse the issue.
