It does take years, however. I built that bike up with that saddle in 2007 and it was my go-to bike for 13 years. I tried a couple other white saddles to replace it, but they didn't work for me. And I figure when I'm on it, nobody can see the worn patches anyhow.
My son could probably restore it to like new. He likes modifying sneakers including leather ones and has the special paint.
