I like the combo with threaded carbon fork (with alu or steel steerer tube) and quill stem on a steel frame. I am trying to do a similar build (a Merckx MX Leader missing its fork) but no luck as of yet finding a fork with the right length steerer.
I am not much of a ahedset-guy. Having trouble with the aesthetics of the modern stems...
