Here's my rant. I've been digging out dandelions everyday since they started flowering in early May. A few weeks ago it would take me two hours to complete the task for my entire property but now it's taking three hours. I haven't been out for a long ride for weeks. And I might not until after mid-june when the dandelions stop flowering.
If you're going to ask me to get a lawn treatment, I'd say my lawn has been chemical free for thirty years and happily has wild strawberries too. So I'm not going back to contributing to algae bloom and dead coastal waters.

A local professor has done some research on pollinator insect abundance and diversity in leaving city lawns unmowed in early spring, to allow nectar to be more available to pollinator insects just coming out of winter hibernation. This led to the city adopting a voluntary "no mow May" policy suspending enforcement of grass length and "weed" growth ordinances for the month of May. Other cities have since followed (dates should be determined locally, based on latitude and climate).
