Maybe they used a different supplier for their decals in 1984. Notice that the decals on the smaller bike were also still there.

Another detail they share that you can't see from these pictures is that the saving between letters on the seat tube changes to avoid putting a water bottle boss in the middle of a letter. On the smaller frame there was a bigger space between the L's. On the new one the bigger space is between the L and the O. This is kind of odd because in both cases the "Vincitrice" decal above the P overlaps the Columbus decal.
