I took mine off so I could add barends. I taped it back on the tops and I'm adding brown wrap when it comes in. I changed the brakes to mafac but the levers stayed.
So I guess the removed section is no longer usable? I'm thinking I want a taller stem, but I can't reuse the handlebar unless I get the stem off, and I would think I'd have to cut off the wrap first.
Oh wait. I see you said you taped the top back on. I get it I think.
