Depends on the % of alcohol. A beer with 5-6% alcohol will hydrate you just fine. Just yesterday I did a 100k ride with friends, halfway we stopped for lunch and had a beer with no ill effects. On credit card tours, 50-70 mile days I'll often have a beer with lunch.

I ride with my publicist and beer sommelier often, and more times than not there's a stop for lunch, including a beer.

Moderation, of course, in all things. Including moderation. YMMV.
