I've clocked in almost 75 miles this week, with lots of hill climbing and sprinting back home (so I can pick my kids up from school). I would ride longer, but with a family and small kids I really need to maximize my ride time. I've also been lifting weights almost daily, but it's affecting my recovery times between riding and strength training. I need to adjust my program a bit. I read heavier weight sets and less reps are better for cycling and I need to allow for proper recovery. My weekly group rides and trying to hang with the faster riders forces me to ride at a higher pace, especially when reaching those checkpoints. I find myself dropping into the small front ring less, unless I'm on an impossibly steep incline or on a dirt trail. I'm already thinking about building out another bike just for group riding!
