Montrose ride was approved. He had it for 5 months, raced it and crashed in a race, scratching it up and putting a deep gouge in the fork. He also swapped parts around and when I got it back it wasn't rideable because the drivetrain was mis-matched.

I offered to sell it to him cheap, I would have taken $200, but he wouldn't buy it. We weren't close friends and after that we weren't friends.
