Y'all "assumed" (and we all know what that means) that he was going to keep it when he said it was in his size. He wasn't obligated to tell you
one single detail about what he had in mind for the bike. In this example, "Say what you mean and mean what you say" is inapplicable, since he didn't "say" anything about his intentions or lack thereof.
I think I'm seeing a few sour grapes here.
