Also, if you're at a D1 school, it will almost certainly have a cycling team. It will probably be a club sport, rather than intercollegiate. Check in with them. There will likely be crits and road races in the spring semester. Also, here's a list of cycling clubs in NC. Looks like several are college clubs.
