It sounded to me that they were having seasonal workflow issues. My thoughts at the time was that they needed to use their off-season to work on cutting their lead time during the spring and early summer.

I would have done it so one might have mainframes, rear triangles, and forks ready to have seat masts added, then get powder coated and final assembly. A pile of pre-made wheels.

As a potential buyer, if what I wanted was already ready to buy, I'd get it that way.

However, I'd likely choose some of the super-light options and upgraded components which might steer me towards custom.
