I put some Yellow Jersey cleats on a pair of Dromarti road shoes (modern construction, classic looks). They work great now but I had to widen the slot first, because the slot was too narrow and bound up on the pedal cage. I used a 1/8" burr (rotary file) in a Dremel to widen the slot, a 10-second job.
I also tapered the forward edge of the cleat to make it not catch on the pedal as your foot enters the toe clip. Did that on a belt-sander, also quick'n'easy, but would be harder if you don't have a belt sander.
I also got some nice Keirin cleats from Japan, I forget the brand, let me know if you want me to look them up. They're around here somewhere...
