Agreed, and other brands of cranksets will work just fine with a Campy drivetrain. I would personally just try to find a compact crankset with the same interface as your current bottom bracket to make the swap easier (it sounds like you have square taper?). A quick search suggests that they did make a Chorus 10 compact crank, but in carbon and only with ultra torque.
