73 or 74 would have been about when I got upgraded from my single speed AMF Roadmaster to a Kmart AllPro 10 speed.
My older brother, who was into bikes about then, also got a French "Orly". My Dad shopped for us 6 kids in bulk a lot at a store called "Railroad Salvage". While there with him one day my brother spotted some boxes that said "Campagnolo". It turned out to be Nuevo Record RD's. I think he talked my Dad into buying 3 of them. He put one on his Orly and on my AllPro. I probably had the only Kmart bike ever with a Campy RD. Bike eventually got stolen. My brother eventually bought a full Campy Botecchia Professional that he still owns.
