I started a cat 3/4 crit last week (40 minutes, cool dedicated closed circuit) and made 4 laps (!).
Basically we had a grid start and I was at the back. A couple of folks ahead of me couldn't clip in and I went around in the grass. The line is at the top of a rise, so at the back you're sort of coming up as the front is down the hill. With all those excuses out of the way, I'm still a little dumbfounded. I chased hard and thought I'd caught, but it was a group that had just then decided to sit up. Ugh.
Do you ever have results that are just outrageously bad? Inconsistency has pretty much been a hallmark of my entire racing life.
