The original post I take it? yes it's heavy, especially when you factor in the steel seat bracket.

The one I linked to is half the weight but you need to make a shim. I bought one for £2 from sjscycles here in the UK. A shim is usually used to prevent the post jamming when you try to push it down. The aluminium frame tends to warp or get spots when it's welded.

I'm not a fan of carbon seat posts they tend to crack. Factor in if your bike falls over the huge seat post may be the first thing to take the force!
