Maybe I'm confusing stories but I remember one where a doctor or a team went to Africa and visited villages that were wiped out by Ebola? One village where an elder or leader had died and the people came to pay their respects and embraced the body, thus picking up the virus.

What I recall about The Hot Zone is the virus wasn't the same as they thought it might be and didn't cause a lot of deaths.
