Road Trip With My New Italian Mistress... Sophia!

*
Just finished a new bike. Not my usual thing... Sophia is a 1986 Bianchi Squadra. I wrote all about this build here.

I took her to my favorite place for trail riding, Hastings, Minnesota:

She was 22.5 lbs when the dealer delivered her to the original owner. After undergoing my geezer custom comfort makeover, she bloated to an `orrible 23.6 lbs.!

But the extra pound-plus made her a much better bike for me. Check this out:

And Hastings is the best place in my world to debut a new build.

The trails and restaurants and local art scene are second to none in this area.

These are just a few of the shots I took today. I'll post the rest as time allows...

But let me just say this: I haven't lost my appreciation for lightweight roadbikes. They make me feel like an athlete again, when I build them right.

Riding Sophia is like having an affair with a sexy younger woman, without the guilt of explaining myself to Mrs. C.
