Total re-post, but this hypnotic, 26 min groove is probably what turned me onto jazz fusion in the first place. The piece takes on the form of a classical Rondo and has a simple (A-B-A-B)m form and has some great John McLaughlin lines. I found the album at the library in college.
The compilation album was released immediately before *****es Brew and represents the early developments of the fusion sound along with
Filles de Kilimanjaro, which is another hitter from that era. It has no less than
three keyboard players with Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock on Fender Rhodes pianos, and Joe Zawinul on organ. The key lines can overlap and become textured and cerebral, which makes me very happy
