Similar situation...
I had a touring bike from 1990 made for an touring g company called Backwoods that was manufactured by Fuji. it was identical to Fuji's Saratoga touring frame, except for the downtube cable stops.
After a powdercoat, I slapped a Fuji decal in the front.
