There are a couple of newer parks, in my area, with stellar MUPs throughout. But it's commonplace for the walkers, joggers and many cyclists to instead opt to clog up the automobile roadways in those parks instead of using the MUPs that parallel all of those roads. As you say, on the wrong road (ie, particularly a "highway" with highway speeds), it can be a death wish.
