If a "rust" paint job is done well, I'd consider it to be a work of art. Just because it's ugly to you or anyone else doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy it.
Any bike that's not locked up well is liable to be stolen by a crack-head. Any bike that draws attention for being "nice" is liable to be stolen by someone who wants it.
