The more entry level racing Treks 1984 had the engraved seatstay caps like all of the 1983 frames, and they used the same aero fork crown as the 1983 560; the 760, 770 and 170 were transitioned to the integral fastback seat lug and Tange fork crown in 1984. The 660 was sort of an unusual model because it was full Reynolds 531 just like the 760 and 770 but it didn't use the new lugs. Interesting. I think you are right, which makes the gone decals odd.
