That sounds like the way to go, and I have contacted a couple members with their kind offers here. It seems I just won’t be in a rush to fix this before the show, and can repay the kindness by offering this one up here first to some BF member local to my area for a good price. I did that with a too small miyata 610 previously. Since this bike will just be a rider, I did take off the front rack and the highly regarded Avocet touring saddle. Any way it works out, it is a pleasure putting a wrench to a vintage Miyata, and it was killing me watching it get beat up and neglected at the co-op.
