The fee issue is the reason I will not work for insurance companies. They have commoditized their work to the point where they are dictating that lawyers are paid very low rates or low flat rates per case, and I want nothing to do with that. A lot of the insurance defense lawyers are getting paid $100-150/hour and being told what they can and cannot do in the course of a case. No thank you.
Yes, the term commoditized is very accurate term to describe what has happened. It's unfortunate. Some physicians have done an "Atlas shrugged" move and gone "concierge" which is understandable but in some ways makes the system even worse as a whole. Sigh.
