Yes, the term commoditized is very accurate term to describe what has happened. It's unfortunate. Some physicians have done an "Atlas shrugged" move and gone "concierge" which is understandable but in some ways makes the system even worse as a whole. Sigh.
I had a great PCP at HUP who did that decades ago. I was sorry to have that happen. He was actually one of the top fundraisers in the MS City to Shore ride. The last time I saw him was when I passed him during the event several years ago.
