Looks like someone used it as a junction box in addition to being a GFCI. Your approach is my exact approach to all electrical work as well.

Yup. A single bevel sliding miter saw. In house (or close to it) brand of Harbor Freight. We can call it microshift’s ultegra level. Perfectly fine for light/medium home use.
