Great choice IMO, excellent bike to start with. As others have mentioned, geometry is pretty close to the Felt F series so handling should be similar. Brakes are cheap to replace if you feel that they're lacking, and "nicer"/more supple tires will help the bike be its best self when the OEs wear out or you feel like splurging.
