- everyone seem to have a horror story about having an axle snap for an original 6/7/8 speed freewheel yet no one seems to have horror stories about Wheels Manufacturing axles......
Quite possibly due to them not having a slot.
Axle slots are a bad idea, just like flutes in seatposts.
