I just replaced the pads on my bike that had circa 3000 miles on them. If I wasn't headed off on a very hilly bikepacking trip at the weekend, I wouldn't have even bothered as the pads still had plenty of life left on them. The rear barely looked worn and the front was about 1/3 gone. So I just popped the used pads back in my spares box for another time.
