I mean you just listed why carbon wheels are better: faster, better handling, more comfortable, lighter, and easier to accelerate. You can get "good" carbon wheels for like $800 now a days if you don't want to drop $1500. The problem is the cost of bikes are a lot more than they used to be. If you wanted am updated Scott Foil, I think they start at $4300 and at least for last gen 2022, that meant mechanical group set and aluminum rims. So even with that $1500 you would have put towards wheels, and maybe $1200 you get for your Foil private sail, that's still $2700, meaning you dropping another $1.6K more or less to get another aero bike and the Foil is one of the cheaper aero bikes out there. Even if you didn't want another aero bike, another race bike is at least $3500 which might be more worth it
