I have little control anymore (good) except buying stuff. This is recreation, and he'd rather do cross or ski than do any class - skills or school. He is a road guy. This is less about skill than knowing your limitations and riding to them.
It is interesting to see how cautious and precise he is on on the road vs reckless abandon on the dirt. Maybe how hard the deck is.
