I agree. Incidentally the omnium in the last few years consists of four mass start events, Scratch, Tempo, Elimination, and Points. This made it harder for TT specialists to win in my opinion.

I preferred the way pursuit riders were seeded years ago. I just looked at the 1986 Worlds results; the amateur pursuit used a qualifier to identify the top 16 times. Those 16 riders then rode eighth, quarter, semi, and final races - this made for an interesting event.

There were 14 entries for the professional pursuit; the top four riders competed in semi and final rides. The distance for pros was 5,000m - a distance I would love to see reintroduced for pro and elite riders.

For info the top times in the sprint 200m were 10.118 (amateur men), 11.245 (women), and 10.578 (pro men).
I have other results if anyone is interested.
