When he was about 15 he comes and shows me a video of a 12 yo in Japan simply ripping Bohemian Rhapsody on a flamenco guitar, I love it when that happens, he so gets it, and often comes up with stuff I've never heard or seen.
I firmly believe if you struggle over music with your kids, many other things besides that may never be "harmonious".
my son's first grade teacher was alarmed when asked who his favorite band answered Pink Floyd. Then asked what album, The Wall. All the other kids were one of the Disney promoted artists of the day.
