The guy he was quoting was discussing a 4 hour ride of undefined intensity. I'm 60, and i do rides that are sometimes a fairly hilly 8 hours. I'm definitely tired and sore after that, but I'm with you on not doing all that "recovery" stuff. I need a shower, food, about a gallon of water over several hours, and a good night's sleep.
