I saw a dead owl along the way, you don't see that every day. My best guess is that it either ate a poisoned rodent, or got the business end of rattlesnake.
Oh, a barn owl--such beautiful bird! Very widely distributed. In Africa, I think they're known as the "monkey-faced owl."
