It's about a 5 hour drive one-way. Maybe I'm being paranoid.

I don’t think your paranoid at all. The lady that drove me home today had the hitch clamp, and I was stressing the whole ride home. She had a really nice specialized and said she never had any problems using it but I still stressed.
