GRX 812 is 1x, has a capacity of 31 which is eaten up by the cogs. GRX 810 is for doubles, and has a capacity of 40 (so 34-11 allows 17t chainring diff max). Yes, Shimano is conservative and some report 810 doing 42t, others are not so lucky. YMMV.
I so goofed up in that earlier post.....am editting with a "never mind" missed 812 is 1x thanks for getting it right
