Heard from my sister in Sarasota this morning. All's well. One small tree/shrub ruined, another salvageable. House totally intact, no flooding. Compared to, say, Fort Myers, they did well. But really, it's like a crap shoot there. We had a discussion once among the siblings. Some said they couldn't stand the possibility of earthquakes, but hurricanes would bother me more. A really big earthquake and you're generally good for years. Hurricanes? They happen every year and there's nothing stopping the one that damages your home this year from being followed by another than destroys it the next. Hawaii? Typhoons and volcanoes. New Mexico? Drought, wildfires, and maybe extreme heat. Virginia Beach? Hurricanes, hurricane remnants, and general flooding. You choose your disaster.
