It just feels right. I really prefer a six speed rear to a seven, for no real reason. And frankly, I don't have much experience with five. I have a five speed corncob here, that I've been awaiting the right application for. Whatever I have back there, I never use them all, unless I'm in the US, where they have actual hills. Edit: Actually, the six speed rear more easily fits into 126 mm dropout spacing as well.

Understanding the irony re: music from yesterday, I quite like the cycling technology from when I started. Ten speeds on the back, English threading, rim brakes, and everything simple. Except of course, I'd have those feelings about quill stems and nine speeds if I'd started a few years sooner, or pressfit bottom brackets if I'd started a few years later. It's all an illusion.
