It also deserves proper care and maintenance and if one is not doing that, they should be made aware and if the lack of care and maintenance have left the bike requiring a lot of repairs that could be much greater than the worth of the bike it is good to tell someone in the best way possible. Of course we don't know what has happened here as we have a very tiny piece of story from only one side and very little info to go on, so what I have said is more general info not necessarily pertaining to this specific case
