I heard the paint thinner idea as well, which put me off using it since thinners are usually solvents and to my, fairly basic mind mixing a glue with a solvent didn't sound like a good idea. They might flash off ok leaving a good bond but I din't want to be the test dummy for a bit of extra convenience.
