Yes, and no: There is some literature about it, and based on the physiology of muscle contraction (ions moving across the cell membrane), it makes sense.

That said, a lot of the new literature is showing that doesn't appear to be a factor.

So at this point, it doesn't appear to be a leading cause, though it could be.
