I think it's fine and reasonable as above. She may want to ask anesthesia for a nerve block post-op. I would also have a few narcotic pain meds lying around just in case....but her choice.
I think they are doing a local block as well as the epidural and will send her home with some narcs. Opiates give her untreatable nausea and she's amazingly brave about pain, so they'll end up at drug turn-in day with all the other crap that's been pressed on us over the years.
