Are you using the shift cables with the "lollipop" ends that are appropriate for those levers? See the illustration in @
juvela 's post #9 - part #1990, left side. They are harder to find these days. If you are using the more common "bullet" ends you may have to file those to get them narrow enough that they don't cause the lever to bind.
